Coinmetro is a cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia by Kevin Murcko, offering trading, investment, and passive income tools within a regulated platform.[1] The company’s visual identity has undergone two significant transformations since its founding, moving from a literal train motif to an abstract, ecosystem-focused mark.
Design and History
For years, Coinmetro was identified with a metro and train logo, a direct visual reference to the “metro” portion of its name.[2] In early 2022, the company underwent a rebranding that changed its visual identity and refined its mission and values.[1] The new direction, developed by design studio DUX in collaboration with Coinmetro’s in-house team, introduced a redesigned logo described as a stylised “C,” along with a new logo for the company’s XCM token and a “Metropolis” visual concept representing Coinmetro’s vision of an ever-expanding ecosystem visualized as a modern, fast-moving city.[3][2]
In May 2023, Coinmetro launched a further revamped visual identity alongside a new website.[4] The refresh touched all areas of the company’s communication, including social media, emails, and design elements across its products.[5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2023 refresh introduced circles and semicircles into the Coinmetro logotype and across other brand visuals. According to the company, these shapes symbolize connecting people with people, people with technology, and all of Coinmetro’s products into one ecosystem.[4] The brand’s new style also mixes real humans with digital illustrations, reflecting Coinmetro’s positioning as a place connecting people with complex technology.[4]
