Metaverse ETP (ETP) is the native token of the Metaverse blockchain, a public, open-source project launched in 2017 that focuses on digital identity, digital assets, and smart contracts.[1][2] The token’s full name, Entropy, is inspired by the second law of thermodynamics, which describes the chaos in a system’s microscopic particles.[3]
Design and History
The Metaverse ETP logo is widely distributed as a cryptocurrency icon across open-source icon packs and logo databases, available in PNG and SVG formats.[4][5] The icon appears in the popular open-source Cryptocurrency Icons pack created by Christopher Downer, which is licensed under CC0 public domain.[5] A separate vector rendition was also created by designer Mehmet Erk for the iconSvg platform in 2024.[6]
Metaverse was one of the first public blockchains in China and has operated for several years.[1] In 2020, the project revised its strategy and began building Metaverse on the Substrate framework, a change that affected the platform’s technology stack but no documented visual redesign of the logo accompanied this transition.[1]
Meaning and Symbolism
The ETP token’s name, Entropy, carries documented meaning tied to thermodynamics, referencing the concept of chaos in microscopic particle systems.[3] Beyond this naming rationale, no official documentation describing the logo’s visual symbolism, color meanings, or design intent was found in the research. The icon is described generically as representing the Metaverse ETP cryptocurrency token.[7]
