Ocean Protocol is a decentralized data exchange protocol that enables the sharing and monetization of data assets while preserving privacy and control. Its visual identity, maintained in the official oceanprotocol/art repository, is distributed as open brand assets for community use under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.[1]
Design and History
The Ocean Protocol brand assets include a primary logo, banners, waves, and sea creature illustrations, all available for download from the official media kit page.[2] The logo is provided in multiple versions, including a black version for use on light backgrounds.[3]
The brand asset repository has evolved through several releases. Version 3.0.0 introduced “all new brand assets” along with a folder reorganization and new waves assets.[4] Later releases added more sea creatures and updated token images.[4] The repository also includes a dedicated token asset for the OCEAN cryptocurrency.[3]
Meaning and Symbolism
The Ocean Protocol brand identity incorporates a set of “Waves” graphics that were created and designed entirely in code, generated as SVG paths using the D3.js data visualization library.[2] The brand also features a collection of sea creature illustrations, including a mantaray, jellyfish, and squid, which were added across successive releases of the asset repository.[4]
Typography and Design
Ocean Protocol’s official branding typefaces are Sharp Sans Medium and Sharp Sans Bold for body text, with Sharp Sans Display No. 1 Bold used for headings.[5] These are commercial fonts and are not distributed in the public asset repository; team members must request the font files from a designer, while web use is handled through a private typographies package.[5]
Logo Index is an independent educational archive covering logos, visual identities and graphic design history. All trademarks and brand assets remain the property of their respective owners.
