Lisk is a blockchain application platform that has undergone two documented visual identity overhauls, first in 2018 and again in 2024. The current Lisk mark reflects the platform’s transition from a standalone JavaScript layer-1 blockchain to an Ethereum layer-2 rollup built on the OP Stack, a shift completed in 2024.[1]
Design and History
Lisk’s first major rebrand was announced in March 2017, when the platform enlisted Berlin-based design agency Taikonauten to overhaul its corporate design, including developing a new logo and media kit.[2] The new identity was formally unveiled at a relaunch event held on 20 February 2018 in Berlin.[3] The brand strategy behind the relaunch was developed in collaboration with Berlin-based brand consultancy Rlevance, alongside Taikonauten’s design work.[3] The 2018 event introduced a new Lisk logo, a redesigned website, and a renewed UI and UX strategy.[4]
In late 2023, Lisk announced it had kicked off a brand refresh process with the same team that had produced its earlier identity work, with a new Lisk website featuring the full brand refresh made public as part of its 2024 milestones.[5] The refreshed website was designed and developed in close partnership with Lisk, launching alongside the platform’s $15M Lisk EMpower Fund initiative.[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
Rlevance’s documented brand strategy for Lisk centered on making blockchain technology approachable to a wider audience, positioning Lisk as the go-to platform for everyone desiring to create blockchain applications. The strategy was built on research with a global group of blockchain developers and interviews with industry experts.[7] The 2018 logo replaced an earlier mark that community members described as resembling a diamond set in stone, with the new design described as simpler and cleaner.[8]
Typography and Design
Brandfetch lists the current Lisk brand colors as including Persian Red (#CF2E2E) and a light gray (#F8F8F8), along with a dark tone (#2F2F2F).[9] The 2024 brand refresh coincided with Lisk’s migration to an Ethereum layer-2 network, and the updated visual identity was rolled out alongside the new website.[5]
