Filecoin is a decentralized storage network that allows users to rent out unused hard drive space or pay to store data across a distributed network. Built by Protocol Labs, it powers an open marketplace for cloud storage secured by cryptographic proofs.[1]
Design and History
The Filecoin logo is a circle-based mark featuring a stylized “F” symbol. The icon is rendered in a single blue path, using the color #0090FF, which is the Filecoin token logo.[2] The mark is described as a minimalist icon representing the Filecoin cryptocurrency with its distinct “F” symbol inside a circle.[3]
Filecoin’s official design assets, including logos and other illustrations, are maintained in the filecoin-project/assets repository on GitHub, which is dual-licensed under Apache 2.0 and MIT terms.[4] The repository was archived on October 31, 2023, and is now read-only.[5] Official brand assets are also available through the Filecoin Foundation’s brand toolkit at fil.org/brand-toolkit.[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
Filecoin’s blue brand color reflects its focus on reliability and decentralized infrastructure.[1] The Filecoin Foundation coordinates and supports the creation and improvement of open-source software and open protocols for decentralized data storage and retrieval networks.[7]
Typography and Design
Filecoin uses two official colors in its brand identity: Filecoin Blue (#0090FF) and Filecoin Dark (#091B2A). Only Filecoin Dark meets WCAG AA’s 4.5:1 contrast ratio for body text on white, leaving Filecoin Blue for backgrounds, display-size type, and non-text elements.[1]
