Arkane Studios is a French video game developer founded in 1999, best known for titles such as Dishonored, Prey, and Deathloop.[1] The studio operates from Lyon, France, and previously maintained a second studio in Austin, Texas, which Microsoft closed in May 2024.[2]
Design and History
Arkane Studios has used at least two distinct logos since its founding. The earliest documented logo, used from June 2002 through December 2003, featured a boomerang-like shape consisting of a circle with two blades extending from either end. Inside the middle was a stylized letter “A” that resembled an unfinished drawing of a five-pointed star.[3]
The current logo, identified as “Arkane Studios Logo 2020,” was uploaded to Wikimedia Commons in July 2020, sourced from the studio’s official website. The file was credited to Zenimax Media Inc. and Arkane Studios SASU.[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The earlier 2002 logo’s stylized “A” inside a boomerang-like shape is described in visual terms only, with no official explanation of its meaning.[3] No authoritative source in the research establishes a documented symbolic meaning for the current mark.
Typography and Design
The 2020 logo file is a small raster image (393 × 77 pixels), indicating a compact horizontal lockup, but no official typeface or construction specifications have been published in the research materials.[4]
