iNiS Corporation (株式会社イニス, Inisu) was a Japanese video game developer known for rhythm games such as Gitaroo Man and Elite Beat Agents. The company was co-founded by Keiichi Yano on February 3, 1997 as iNiS Ltd., and changed its name to iNiS Corporation in 2000. The name iNiS is an acronym for “infinite Noise of the inner Soul.”[1]
Design and History
In April 2020, the company changed its name from iNiSJ to LIONA, and it now operates as LIONA Interactive (株式会社LIONA).[2] The former iNiS identity is therefore no longer the company’s active brand, though it remains historically significant as the mark associated with the studio’s rhythm game output.
Documented visual details of the iNiS logo are limited. The mark appeared in promotional contexts for the company’s games, including a logo visible alongside that of NanaOn-Sha in materials for the cancelled Project Rap Rabbit crossover.[3]
Meaning and Symbolism
The only documented meaning associated with the iNiS brand is the company name itself. iNiS is an acronym for “infinite Noise of the inner Soul,” a phrase that reflects the studio’s focus on music and rhythm-based games.[1]
