Retina Associates of Sarasota (RAS) was a Florida ophthalmology practice specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina, macula, and vitreous. Founded in December 2007 by Dr. Keye Wong and Dr. John Niffenegger, the practice operated locations in Sarasota, Bradenton, Port Charlotte, and Venice.[1] In August 2023, RAS merged with Retina Group of Florida (RGF) to establish a singular, unified entity operating under the Retina Group of Florida name.[2]
Design and History
The RAS identity existed as an independent brand from the practice’s founding in 2007 until the 2023 merger with Retina Group of Florida. Following the merger, the combined practice adopted the Retina Group of Florida brand, and the RAS name was retired from active use.[2] The former RAS locations now operate under the Retina Group of Florida identity, which describes itself as providing retinal care throughout Southeast Florida, Sarasota, and the Gulf Coast area.[3]
Prior to the merger, RAS had joined Retina Consultants of America (RCA), a physician management services organization, in November 2020. At that time, RCA described RAS as a premier subspecialty practice providing state-of-the-art retina care along the West Coast of Florida.[1]
Meaning and Symbolism
Documented information about the specific symbolism, color meaning, or design intent behind the RAS logo is not available from official sources. [1]
Typography and Design
No official documentation regarding the typography, color specifications, or design construction of the RAS logo has been published by the practice or its parent organizations. The designer or agency responsible for creating the RAS identity has not been publicly disclosed. Because the RAS brand was retired following the 2023 merger, the current visual identity for the former RAS locations is that of Retina Group of Florida.[2]
