Namesco, trading as names.co.uk, is a British internet services company offering domain registration, web hosting and email services. The company, founded in 1997 and based in Worcester, England, has operated under the team.blue group since 2019.[1]
Design and History
Namesco’s visual identity has undergone several changes since its founding. The company’s own blog, published for its 25th anniversary, documents that its homepage from the year 2000, during the period when it was called “Names.co Internet PLC”, displayed an early iteration of the brand. A later homepage from 2013 shows “yet another new logo” as the brand continued to evolve.[2]
In January 2013, Namesco relaunched as Names.co.uk, returning to its original roots from 16 years earlier. The relaunch was announced with a new logo, a new website and improved product offerings for customers.[3] The move was intended to highlight the importance of the domain name services the company provides and to stress its UK heritage.[4]
The current names.co.uk website uses a logo file named “nco-logo-white” in SVG format, served from the site’s own asset directory.[5] A dark variant of the logo, “nco-logo-dark-1.svg”, has also been documented.[6]
In 2024, Namesco changed its legal name to team.blue Internet Services UK Limited, as part of a process of pan-European team.blue harmonization.[1] The names.co.uk brand and website continue to operate under this parent structure.
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2013 rebrand to Names.co.uk was driven by a desire to emphasize the company’s core domain name services and its UK heritage, returning to the brand’s original roots.[3][4] The wordmark itself places the company’s domain name at the center of the identity, directly connecting the visual mark to the service it sells.
