RDS Info is a Canadian French-language 24-hour sports information specialty channel owned by CTV Specialty Television Inc., a division of Bell Media (80%) and ESPN (20%).[1] The channel launched on October 21, 2004 under the name Réseau Info-Sports (RIS).[1] Bell Media describes RDS Info as an RDS specialty channel airing 24/7 and exclusively dedicated to sports, serving as the network’s sports news hub.[2]
Design and History
The channel’s visual identity is closely tied to its parent brand, RDS (Réseau des sports). On January 23, 2012, RIS launched a high-definition feed and rebranded as “RDS Info,” adopting the RDS naming convention.[1] The rebrand aligned the sports news channel with the established RDS brand family, which also includes RDS2.[2]
The current RDS Info logo is a wordmark-based mark that follows the visual language of the RDS parent brand. The logo file is identified in Wikipedia and DBpedia records as “Rds info.svg.”[3] The RDS parent brand uses a red color scheme, with Brandfetch listing the primary RDS brand color as Guardsman Red (#D70000).[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
The channel’s slogan, “Au-delà de l’actualité sportive” (“Beyond sports news”), appears in French Wikipedia records and reflects the channel’s positioning as a sports news source that goes beyond standard reporting.[5]
Typography and Design
The logo’s design follows the RDS brand family’s visual identity, which centers on a red typographic wordmark.[4] The RDS Info mark incorporates the “RDS” abbreviation with the word “Info” appended, distinguishing the news channel from the main RDS network while maintaining brand continuity.
