KF Shkumbini is an Albanian football club based in Peqin, a town in central Albania. The club was founded in 1924 and is officially known as Klubi Sportiv Shkumbini Peqin.[1] Its nickname is “Luanet Bardhekaltër” (the Blue and White Lions), and its colors are blue and white.[2]
Design and History
In April 2024, the club unveiled a new logo marking the 100th anniversary of its founding. The centenary logo was presented during a ceremony in Peqin that inaugurated the start of construction on a new sports complex for the club.[3] Club president Ali Kasa stated at the event that the new logo would mark the 100th anniversary of the club’s foundation, with the anniversary date set for 29 July 2024.[4]
The same ceremony also publicized a new technical sponsorship agreement with the Italian sportswear company Errea.[5] Kasa announced that new uniforms would be designed by the sportswear firm, alongside the new centenary logo.[6]
Earlier in the club’s history, the team was known under a different name. Sources indicate that between 1951 and 1957 the club was called Puna, before returning to the Shkumbini name in 1958.[7]
Meaning and Symbolism
The club takes its name from the Shkumbin River, which flows through the region around Peqin. The club’s nickname, “Luanet Bardhekaltër,” translates as the Blue and White Lions, reflecting the team’s official colors.[2]
Typography and Design
Documented details about the typography and construction of the current KF Shkumbini centenary logo are limited. The club’s historical badge has been described as a rectangular emblem in blue and white, but no authoritative source confirms the specific design elements, fonts, or exact color specifications of the current mark.
