FC Rosengård is a Swedish football club based in Malmö, with roots tracing back to 1917. The club’s visual identity has undergone significant changes, most recently in March 2026, when the men’s team adopted a new club emblem following a partnership with Danish club FC København.
Design and History
FC Rosengård and FC Rosengård 1917 have two different origins but today share a common board and club emblem while remaining two separate legal entities.[1] The men’s team, FC Rosengård 1917, traces its history to Malmö Boll & Idrottsförening (MBI), founded in 1917.[2]
In March 2026, members of FC Rosengård 1917 voted unanimously at the annual meeting to adopt a new club emblem and a new modern visual identity for the men’s team.[3] The new emblem consists of the letters FCR, with additional versions featuring the numbers 1917 and the shield from the previous club emblem also in use.[3] The men’s team began using the new visual identity and club emblem from the season premiere on April 4, 2026.[3]
The women’s team, which competes in the OBOS Damallsvenskan, and the FC Rosengård association based at Malmö IP were not affected by this change and continue to use the same club emblem as before.[3]
Meaning and Symbolism
The new emblem was created to symbolize the partnership between FC Rosengård 1917 and partner club FC København, and is described by the club as a modern version reflecting the present time and the younger audience largely found in Rosengård.[4] The colors white and blue were chosen early because they appear both in the roots of MBI and in FC København’s identity.[3]
The shift to white and blue was described as a nod to MBI’s historical colors and a welcome to partner club FC København.[2] The red color, which in recent years was a central part of the club emblem, will continue to appear in various ways within the organization as a symbol of that part of the club’s history.[3]
Club chairman Håkan Wifvesson said the new emblem “really symbolizes the start of this new exciting journey we have embarked on, while bringing the name and history into the future.”[3]
