Täby FK (Täby Fotbollsklubb) is a Swedish football club based in Täby, north of Stockholm. The club was founded in autumn 2012 when the football sections of Täby IS and IFK Täby merged.[1] The men’s team has played in Ettan Norra, Sweden’s third tier, since the 2020 season.[1]
Design and History
The club’s official colors are recorded as blue and black by several independent football databases.[2][3] Youth team listings also describe the club’s kit colors as blue/black.[4]
Because the club was formed through a merger in 2012, its visual identity dates only from that founding year. A 2019 request on Wikipedia’s Graphics Lab indicates that vector versions of the Täby FK logo were being prepared for the encyclopedia at that time, confirming the mark was in use by then.[5]
The club’s official website does not publish a detailed explanation of the emblem’s design or meaning.
Meaning and Symbolism
The club’s name and colors derive from the Täby municipality, whose coat of arms features a cross inspired by crosses found on rune-stones in the area dating from the earliest Christian times in Sweden (1010-1050).[6] However, no source confirms that the football club’s emblem intentionally references this municipal heraldry.
Claims that the logo’s blue conveys “reliability,” that its circular form symbolizes “unity,” or that specific hex codes represent the club’s palette are not supported by any official or reliable source and should be disregarded.
