Azad Azerbaijan TV (Azerbaijani: Azad Azərbaycan TV), commonly known by its acronym ATV, is a private television station in Azerbaijan that began broadcasting on December 25, 2000. The channel is part of the Azad Azerbaijan Independent Teleradio Company, which was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1998. The name “Azad Azerbaijan” translates to “Free Azerbaijan.”
Design and History
ATV’s original logo remained in use for more than a decade after the channel’s launch. In 2011, the channel underwent fundamental changes, including a change in management. In alignment with this transition, the logo was changed on May 10, 2011, replacing the mark that had been in use for over 10 years. The redesign accompanied broader efforts to improve the content and quality of the channel’s programming. [1] [2]
In October 2009, ATV International, an international sister channel of ATV, started broadcasting. [1] The international channel was granted a six-year license in March 2009 by Azerbaijan’s National TV and Radio Council, with programming intended to be broadcast in Azeri, Russian, Turkish, Persian, English and Armenian languages.
