Meaning and history

Dolomite is an Italian footwear and apparel brand founded in 1897 in Montebelluna, where Giuseppe Garbuio opened a workshop called Fabbrica Scarpe Montello. The brand takes its name from the Dolomites, a connection reflected in its mountain heritage (Dolomite’s company history).
The logo examples show an earlier design with a red emblem alongside a later wordmark treatment. In the later artwork, the name sits above “1897” and a short Italian tricolor bar. Dolomite announced a renewed logo in 2023, describing it as “an evolution rather than a revolution” (Dolomite).
???? – 2017

The earlier artwork pairs the Dolomite name and founding year with a red emblem. Compared with the later version, the emblem is a more prominent separate graphic element. Dolomite’s history records the brand’s connection to mountain expeditions, including the 1954 Italian expedition to K2 in the Karakorum (Dolomite’s company history).
2017 – Today

In January 2017, Dolomite presented a new logo to unify its outdoor performance footwear, lifestyle footwear and apparel under one identity. The presentation took place at Pitti Uomo in Florence (Sportdimontagna). The image shows the name above “1897” and a tricolor bar. Although the heading retains “Today,” Dolomite announced a renewed version in September 2023 and described it as an evolution of the earlier direction (Dolomite).
Dolomite’s identity messaging emphasizes authenticity, mountain lifestyle, Italian style and design, and respect for the environment. These are stated brand values, rather than explanations of particular logo elements (Dolomite).
