Meaning and history
Olsen’s logo is a wordmark: the name appears on one horizontal line, without a separate emblem in the images shown here. Its lowercase letters have rounded, open forms, and the tall strokes of the “l” and “n” give the line a simple, even rhythm. The lettering is dark gray. One image places it on black and the other on white, so the contrast changes while the wordmark remains visually consistent.
Olsen is a Hamburg-based womenswear brand with roots in a trading company founded by Alfred L. Wolff in 1901. Manfred Wolff began importing knitwear in 1959, and the company’s history gives 1995 as the Olsen brand’s launch year. A company history document instead identifies 1997 as the label’s founding, so the sources differ on the brand’s starting date. Neither account establishes when this particular logo was introduced. Olsen’s history and its 2009 company history document describe the business lineage.
1995 – Today

The archive groups the wordmark under this heading. The second image shows the same lowercase name and dark-gray lettering as the lead image, but against a white field rather than black. That contrast is a visible presentation difference, not evidence by itself of a redesign or a dated change in the logo.
The company’s history describes Olsen’s collections through colourful fabrics and exclusive in-house prints. Those changing materials provide a varied fashion context for a restrained wordmark, while the name itself remains the central visual element. Olsen’s German site describes the brand as active, and NORD Holding’s acquisition announcement records its purchase of Olsen in 2016. Neither source identifies a later logo redesign.
