SONM is a blockchain-based fog computing platform that creates a decentralized marketplace for computing power, allowing users to rent or purchase CPU and GPU resources from one another.[1] The project raised $42 million at the end of 2017 and released its MVP Testnet in December of that year.[1] The platform’s native token, SNM, is used for transactions and payments within the network.[2]
Design and History
SONM’s visual identity is registered as a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The mark, registered under number 5938797 to OOO SONM-RESHENIYA, was registered on December 17, 2019, with a filing date of March 20, 2018.[3] The trademark registration covers fog and edge computing services under international class 042.[3]
Meaning and Symbolism
The official trademark description documents the logo’s construction in detail. The mark consists of a large circle containing four symmetrically arranged groupings, each made up of three adjacent circles. One grouping features three adjacent circles of equal medium size, with two horizontally aligned and one centered underneath, all touching the interior border of the large circle.[3] The circular emblem format is consistent with the platform’s decentralized, network-oriented positioning, though no official documentation of specific symbolic intent beyond the visual description has been published.
The SONM logo is widely distributed across cryptocurrency platforms and logo repositories in vector formats including SVG, PNG, AI, and EPS.[4] The mark is also available through dedicated cryptocurrency logo services that provide embed codes for the SONM (SNM) token.[5]
