Outfit7 is a global mobile gaming and digital entertainment company best known for creating the Talking Tom & Friends franchise. The company develops mobile games, animated series, and digital content for all ages worldwide. [1]
Design and History
Outfit7 was founded in July 2009 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, by Samo Login and his wife Iza. [2] The company’s visual identity has undergone several significant changes since its founding.
In November 2014, Outfit7 revealed a new logo featuring a plate on a pie splat with a silhouette of Talking Tom’s hand forming the letter “O.” [3] This design tied the corporate identity directly to the Talking Tom franchise that had made the company famous.
On March 8, 2018, Outfit7 introduced a new logo that first appeared in the game Talking Tom Camp. [4] This mark moved away from the character-focused design toward a more abstract wordmark.
In 2021, Outfit7 underwent a brand repositioning. According to the company’s own blog post, the corporate brand “wasn’t ready” and was “promising the world Talking Tom & Friends and nothing more.” The company wanted to expand from a single-brand company focused on family entertainment into a house of brands reaching diverse audiences. [5]
As part of this repositioning, Outfit7 updated its logo on April 22, 2021, making it monochrome and slightly less bold. [3] The company explained that they liked their existing logo, which had been their signature for years, but needed it to reflect who they had become. They “sharpened its edges, slimmed down the font weight, and adjusted the color scheme, giving it an edgier look and feel.” [5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The number seven holds particular significance for Outfit7. According to the company, “The number seven means a lot to us, so we made sure that it was incorporated, with seven colors and seven symbols, each of which was crafted to represent a letter of our brand name.” [5]
The 2021 identity uses anthracite gray as the primary color, “complemented by a range of energetic secondary shades.” The company described this design as “powerful enough to stand on its own, but neutral enough to represent all the diverse brands we plan to shape in the future.” [5]
Typography and Design
The 2021 Outfit7 logo uses a custom-designed typeface called O7TF Display, created in-house by the company’s design team, with Anže Veršnik credited for the typeface work. [4] The font weight was slimmed down as part of the 2021 refresh to give the mark a more contemporary feel. [5]
