Sammy Corporation is a Japanese developer and retailer of pachinko and pachislot machines, established on November 1, 1975 as Sammy Industry.[1] The company is part of the Sega Sammy Group and is headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo.[2]
Design and History
Sammy’s corporate logo consists of the wordmark “Sammy” accompanied by an abstract symbol. The mark is rendered in green and gray, with the green palette serving as a defining element of the company’s visual identity across its applications.[3]
In 2004, Sammy merged with Sega to form Sega Sammy Holdings, creating a parent company for both brands.[4] In April 2018, Sega Sammy Holdings announced a new group brand logo, set to launch in August of that year, to reflect the future direction of the group.[5] The new group logo incorporates elements of SEGA blue and Sammy green, with the company stating that the group’s “strong unity” is expressed through connected letters, and that “edges angled at the earth’s” horizon symbolize the group’s determination to develop globally.[5][6]
Meaning and Symbolism
The Sega Sammy group logo is based on the letter “S,” the initial letter of both companies’ names. A curved line suggesting the horizon links the words Sega and Sammy, symbolizing the companies’ collaboration and the group’s determination to develop globally.[6] The blue and green color elements in the group logo draw from the respective Sega and Sammy brand colors.[5]
