KF Besa Dobërdoll is a football club based in the village of Dobri Dol (Dobërdoll) in the Gostivar municipality of North Macedonia. The club was founded in 1976 and plays its home matches at the City Stadium in Gostivar.[1][2] After a period of inactivity, the club was reactivated in 2014 on the initiative of local villagers.[3]
Design and History
The club’s visual identity has evolved alongside its administrative history. In the run-up to the 2018/2019 season, the club, then competing in the Gostivar municipal league, took over the management of the third-division club Chaklani. The new administration renamed that club to Besa, effectively transferring the Besa identity into a higher division.[4]
In 2020, the club announced a formal name change. A club statement published on its official Facebook page declared that the third-league club KF Besa Dobërdoll would henceforth be called “Besa 1976,” with the full name “Klubi Futbollistik Besa 1976” used from the 2020/21 season onward.[5] The “1976” in the name references the club’s founding year.[1] The club continues to be referred to as KF Besa Dobërdoll in media coverage and league records.[6]
The club’s traditional colors are blue and white.[7] Kit records from the 2020-21 season show a sky blue and white home shirt produced by the brand Lig.[8] By the 2024-25 season, the club’s kits were manufactured by Jako, with the home shirt in white, blue and orange and the away shirt in navy and sky blue.[9][10]
In July 2025, the Football Federation of Macedonia announced that FC Besa 1976 AD Dobri Dol had officially notified the federation that it would not compete in the Macedonian Second League for the 2025/2026 season.[6]
Meaning and Symbolism
The club name “Besa” carries cultural weight in Albanian tradition, referring to a code of honor built on trust and promise-keeping. The club serves the village of Dobërdoll in the Gostivar municipality, an area with a significant Albanian population.[11] The club’s supporters, described in local media as loyal fans of KF Besa from Dobërdoll, have been documented displaying the club’s colors at matches.[11]
