BitMax Token (BTMX) is the native utility token of BitMax.io, a cryptocurrency and digital asset trading platform originally launched in 2018.[1] The platform’s visual identity centered on a sailboat symbol, a motif that carried through the brand’s evolution. In March 2021, BitMax relaunched as AscendEX in English-speaking markets and “Dingfeng” for Chinese speakers, retiring the BitMax name and introducing a new logo.[1]
Design and History
The BitMax logo featured a sailboat as its primary symbol. When the platform rebranded to AscendEX in March 2021, the new logo continued the sailboat symbolism but redesigned it to extend into the capital letter “A,” charting an upward trajectory intended to represent reaching new highs.[1] The official announcement described the updated design as a visual optimization that maintained the sailboat’s主体样式 (main form) while expanding it into the letter “A” to express the new platform’s ambition.[2]
The rebranding was part of a broader strategic shift. CEO George Cao explained that the name “BitMax” carried strong crypto-industry connotations that no longer fit as cryptocurrency moved toward mainstream financial markets. The new name “AscendEX” was chosen to reflect the platform’s aspiration to climb higher, with the Chinese name “Dingfeng” (顶峰) meaning “pinnacle.”[3]
Meaning and Symbolism
The AscendEX logo’s color scheme used a primary color of “water blue,” described as an energetic visual contrast against a secondary color of calming “midnight blue.” The company stated it hoped this combination would evoke a strong sense of reliability and security in a dynamic, rapidly-changing marketplace.[1] The Chinese-language announcement similarly described the water blue as expressing the platform’s attentiveness to users and partners, while the midnight blue auxiliary color conveyed stability and safety.[2]
The sailboat motif, retained from the BitMax identity, symbolized forward movement and ascent. The redesigned “A” form extended this symbolism to represent an upward trajectory for the platform and its users.[1]
