CoinMetro Token (XCM) is the native utility token of Coinmetro, a cryptocurrency exchange founded in 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia, by Kevin Murcko. The token’s visual identity has evolved alongside the company’s broader rebranding efforts, which took place in 2022 and were followed by a further visual refresh in 2023. The XCM logo is a distinct mark from the parent company’s logo, though both were developed as part of the same branding projects.
Design and History
For years, Coinmetro was identified with a metro and train logo, a direct reference to the “metro” in its name. In April 2022, the company announced a rebranding that included a new logo and new visuals, moving away from the train motif to present Coinmetro as an ever-expanding ecosystem visualized as a modern and fast-moving city. The rebrand also refined the company’s mission and values. [1] [2]
The 2022 rebrand was developed by DUX Studio, which worked closely with Coinmetro’s in-house team to create a fresh brand for both the company and its token, XCM. The project delivered a redesigned company logo (a stylised “C”), a new XCM logo, and a visual concept called “Metropolis” intended to represent Coinmetro’s vision. [3]
In May 2023, Coinmetro launched a further visual makeover, introducing a revamped visual identity and a new website. The refresh touched all areas of the company’s communication, including social media, emails, and design elements across its products. [4] [5]
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2023 refresh introduced circles and semicircles into the Coinmetro logotype and other visuals. According to the company, these shapes symbolize connecting people with people, people with technology, and all of the company’s products into one ecosystem. [4]
Typography and Design
Coinmetro’s brand color palette includes the hex code FF4D15, an orange tone documented in the company’s brand assets. [6] The 2023 logotype incorporates the circular and semicircular motifs described above, while the 2022 company logo is a stylised “C” mark. [3] [4]
