CoinTiger is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange headquartered in Singapore, launched in December 2017.[1] The brand name combines “coin” with “tiger,” and its Chinese brand name, 币虎 (Bì Hǔ), translates directly to “coin tiger.”[2]
Design and History
On August 11, 2020, CoinTiger announced a full brand upgrade. The company stated the purpose was to reshape the brand and provide better services and experience for global users.[3] As part of this upgrade, the official Chinese brand name 币虎 (CoinTiger) was formally introduced, and the Chinese logo, community pages, and social media accounts were upgraded simultaneously.[2] The futures brand was renamed “CoinTiger Futures” in English and “币虎合约” in Chinese, with new official websites launched for both international and Chinese versions.[2]
Prior to the 2020 upgrade, the CoinTiger logo was already in use on the exchange’s website and mobile applications, as documented in stock photography from April 2019 showing the CoinTiger homepage and logo displayed on a laptop screen.[4] The 2020 announcement did not specify a designer or agency responsible for the rebrand.
Meaning and Symbolism
The brand name itself carries the primary symbolism: the tiger is a deliberate reference in both the English and Chinese names, with the Chinese name 币虎 literally meaning “coin tiger.”[2] The company’s official announcement framed the 2020 brand upgrade as a move to reshape the brand for global users, though it did not publish detailed explanations of specific visual symbolism in the logo itself.[3]
