Hedera Hashgraph is a public distributed ledger network that uses hashgraph consensus rather than a traditional blockchain. Its native cryptocurrency is HBAR. The network’s visual identity centers on a logo mark that was designed in 2018, the same year the company filed trademark applications for the logo and the Hedera name in the United Kingdom.[1]
Design and History
According to Hedera’s official timeline, the HBAR logo was designed in 2018, the same year the company selected “Hedera” as its brand and company name.[2] The logo was registered as a figurative trademark by Hedera Hashgraph, LLC, with a filing date of September 10, 2018.[3]
In May 2025, Hedera announced a refreshed visual identity for its ecosystem. The update accompanied the rebranding of two entities: the HBAR Foundation became Hedera Foundation, and the Hedera Governing Council became Hedera Council. Hedera’s official announcement described the refreshed identity as reflecting “the interconnectedness of the ecosystem and the vital role of trust at every layer.”[4] The announcement also stated that the Hedera brand and social channels themselves “remain unchanged.”[4]
Meaning and Symbolism
Hedera’s official brand guidelines describe the “Decentralized on Hedera” stamp as the official way to denote that an application uses the Hedera Hashgraph network, noting that using it “demonstrates to your users the trust that Hedera can provide to them.”[5] The 2025 brand refresh emphasized that the new visual identities for Hedera Council and Hedera Foundation “closely align with their shared values of transparency and trust.”[4]
Hedera’s official brand guidelines direct users to a complete Hedera Brand page for logo usage details, but that page was not accessible during research.[5]
Typography and Design
Hedera’s official brand guidelines confirm that the logo is available in versions for use on white or light backgrounds and on black or dark backgrounds.[5] The 2025 brand refresh materials included downloadable logo assets such as “Hedera Logo Black” and lockup versions for the Hedera Foundation brand.[6]
