TVP3 is the regional channel of Telewizja Polska (TVP), Poland’s public broadcaster, serving 16 regional branches across the country. The current visual identity dates from January 2016, when the channel was renamed from TVP Regionalna back to TVP3 and each regional outlet received a unified logo with its city name added below.
Design and History
The 2016 TVP3 logo consists of a navy blue and white graphic sign reading “TVP3,” with the name of the city placed beneath it in navy lettering, for example TVP3 Wrocław or TVP3 Katowice.[1] The design was introduced on 2 January 2016, when all 16 regional branches of TVP adopted the new name and logo simultaneously.[2]
The new mark was described as similar to the logo used by TVP3 between 2003 and 2007, but with navy blue replacing the earlier green.[3] TVP Katowice revealed the new logotype in early December 2015, noting that the navy color replaced the green then in use and that the design referenced TVP’s corporate colors.[4]
The rebranding accompanied a broader restructuring of TVP’s regional output, with the broadcaster returning to the TVP3 name that had been used until 2007, when the channel was replaced by TVP Info.[1] Each of the 16 regional variants shares the same core TVP3 sign, differentiated only by the city name below.[1]
Meaning and Symbolism
The 2016 logo’s navy blue color was chosen to align with TVP’s corporate color scheme, replacing the green that had distinguished the regional channel in its previous identity.[4] The inclusion of each city’s name in the logo was a deliberate part of the design, signaling the local character of each of the 16 regional stations.[2]
