Enjoy Technology, Inc. was a Palo Alto-based retail platform co-founded by former Apple retail chief Ron Johnson. The company launched in 2015 under the name Enjoy, operating through the website GoEnjoy.com, and described its model as “Commerce at Home,” pairing online purchases with free in-home delivery and setup by trained “Experts.”[1][2]
Design and History
Enjoy launched its retail service on May 6, 2015, in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, initially offering about 60 products from 11 companies including AT&T, GoPro, Microsoft, Samsung and Hewlett-Packard.[1] The company’s early press coverage described its branded vehicles and uniformed Experts arriving at customers’ homes, with the service available at no extra cost with each purchase made on GoEnjoy.com.[3]
Enjoy expanded internationally, beginning a partnership with BT Group in 2018 that brought the service to the United Kingdom under the BT and EE brands.[4] The company went public in 2021 through a merger with Marquee Raine Acquisition Corp., trading on Nasdaq under the ticker ENJY.[5]
In June 2022, Enjoy Technology disclosed that it was considering filing for voluntary bankruptcy protection.[6] The company and its affiliates, operating under the name Legacy EJY, Inc., subsequently filed for Chapter 11 protection, and by December 15, 2022, the business had ceased operations under a Chapter 11 liquidation filing.[7][8]
Meaning and Symbolism
Documented visual descriptions of the Enjoy logo are limited. The company’s brand identity centered on the word “Enjoy” itself, which served as both the company name and the primary wordmark. In a Canadian trademark opposition decision involving Enjoy Technology, Inc., the board noted that the word ENJOY was the dominant and most distinctive element of the mark at issue.[9] No official source documenting specific color symbolism, shape meaning or designer attribution for the Enjoy logo was located in available research.
