Parkwood Entertainment is an American management, production, entertainment company and record label founded by singer Beyoncé in 2010 as a production unit for videos and films.[1] The company is named after a street in Houston, Texas where Beyoncé once lived.[1]
Design and History
The Parkwood Entertainment wordmark is registered as a standard character mark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, meaning the protection covers the words themselves rather than a specific stylized design.[2] The mark was registered under registration number 5839895 with serial number 86516664.[2]
In October 2023, Beyoncé made a significant change to the Parkwood Entertainment logo, replacing it with a number “4” rendered as a terrestrial globe.[3][4] The change was reported during the transition from October 16 to 17, 2023.[3]
Meaning and Symbolism
The number “4” holds personal significance for Beyoncé, who was born on September 4 and has used the numeral throughout her career, including as the title of her 2011 album 4. The globe design in the 2023 logo iteration drew attention because Latin America and Asia were reportedly removed from the map depicted in the mark.[3][4]
