Polsat Sport Premium 5 was a Polish premium sports television service operated by Telewizja Polsat. Launched on 21 August 2018, it operated as a pay-per-view (PPV) service activated only for simultaneous live sports broadcasts, primarily UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matches, transmitted without advertising in Super HD quality [1]. The service ceased to exist on 1 September 2025, when it was converted into the full-time channel Polsat Sport Extra 3 [2].
Design and History
Polsat Sport Premium 5 was part of the Polsat Sport Premium family, which included two regular channels (Premium 1 and Premium 2) and four PPV services (Premium 3 through 6) [1]. The PPV services were launched together on 21 August 2018, timed with the start of the UEFA Champions League playoff round [1].
On 30 August 2021, Polsat Sport Premium 5 received a new logo as part of a coordinated rebranding of 24 Telewizja Polsat channels, including all Polsat Sport channels and the four PPV services [3]. The rebranding was implemented on a single day to create a dramatic effect, as explained by Katarzyna Wyszomirska-Wierczewska, Member of the Board of Telewizja Polsat and Marketing Communications Director of the Polsat Plus Group [3].
The creative concept was based on animated sun rays, a shared element across all new channel logos. The rays formed an identical pattern for every station but in a color scheme dedicated to each channel, giving the channel family a cohesive visual identity while preserving individual character [3]. The logos gained visual depth through three-dimensional animation [3].
The new on-air presentation was prepared by the German creative agency Luxlotusliner, with significant involvement from Telewizja Polsat’s own promotion team. The soundtrack was composed by the music studio Novaspot [3]. Luxlotusliner had also produced Polsat’s previous on-air presentations [4].
On 1 September 2025, Polsat Sport Premium 5 was replaced by Polsat Sport Extra 3, a full-time channel with a multi-hour schedule, ending the PPV service model for this channel [2]. The change was announced by Marian Kmita, sports director of Telewizja Polsat, who stated that the PPV services were being converted into regular channels with full programming schedules [5].
Typography and Design
As part of the 2021 rebranding, the on-air presentation introduced typography designed specifically for Polsat. The presentation elements were separated by animations of the sun-ray pattern flowing smoothly into subsequent images, giving the materials a dynamic and modern appearance [3]. Gabi Madracevic, managing director of Luxlotusliner, described the new presentation as very flexible and offering many possibilities for future development [3].
