Polsat Sport 3 is a Polish sports television channel operated by Telewizja Polsat, part of the Polsat Plus Group. The channel was launched on May 30, 2011, as Polsat Sport News, Poland’s first television station devoted to sports news, and was renamed Polsat Sport 3 on April 26, 2024.[1][2]
Design and History
The current Polsat Sport 3 identity emerged from a naming change rather than a standalone redesign. On April 26, 2024, Polsat Sport News was renamed Polsat Sport 3 as part of a broader simplification of the broadcaster’s sports channel portfolio, which also saw Polsat Sport become Polsat Sport 1 and Polsat Sport Extra become Polsat Sport 2. The broadcaster stated that the simplified names were intended to make navigation of its sports channel offering easier.[2]
The visual identity used by Polsat Sport 3 traces back to a 2016 rebranding of all Polsat sports channels. On June 10, 2016, Telewizja Polsat introduced new logos for Polsat Sport, Polsat Sport Extra, Polsat Sport News, and the then-new Polsat Sport 2 and Polsat Sport 3 channels.[3] The 2016 identity was built from modular blocks carrying the channel name on different colored backgrounds. A distinguishing element was the shared “SPORT” module with “POLSAT” set in smaller type, common to all sports channels in the group.[3][4]
The 2016 logo system was designed by Luxlotusliner, an international design agency based in Munich, which had previously created the on-air branding for Polsat News and the “Wydarzenia” news program.[3][4] Katarzyna Wyszomirska-Wierczewska, then director of the marketing division at Telewizja Polsat, said the goal was to create “a modern, clean and functional logotype” that would allow for further expansion and easy modification when new channels or dedicated feeds were created.[3]
Typography and Design
All Polsat sports channel logos introduced in 2016 shared a common typeface, identified by the broadcaster as “braun.”[3][4] The color scheme was described as referencing the existing visual identity of Polsat Sport, which the broadcaster characterized as one of the strongest brands of Telewizja Polsat.[3]
Following the 2024 renaming, Polsat Sport 3 continues to use the modular logo system established in 2016, with the channel number “3” incorporated into the existing design framework. The channel’s on-air presentation and supporting graphics were displayed in various versions across screen and print materials when the new names were introduced.[5]
